The Closest Book

I was bestowed a bling award that best describes me from momma blogs a lot. I think she knew it would best fits me a person who’s read 76 books thus far for 2008. That number does not include the books I read twice or those that I started and never finished for whatever reason.

Here it is:

It’s called bookworm. Does that fit me or what?

In order for me to accept this honor, I had to grab one of the books closest to me, not my favorite book or a book I’ve enjoyed or read, but one an arms distance away from me. Then go to page 56, type the fifth line and the next two to five lines that follow.

“Cherry swallowed, tucked her hair behind her ears, and bent her head to receive him.
Tony watched the bright lights of New York City stream by outside the cab window as Cherry wrapped her succulent lips around his manhood.”

- Seduction by Geneva Holliday

I should say the first book I picked up said “Oh well…” and then had some expletives I didn’t want to offend anyone with.

Now the last part to this is picking five people who would do good with this bling. This will be hard.

Now if you want to participate and I didn’t pick you, feel free to do so and come back and leave me a comment letting me know and I will come visit you.

NaNo WriMo

Many in the world like myself has decided yet again to to take the challenge. National Novel Writing Month began last week Saturday and after a week I am at 15,619. This will sound crazy, but I am writing two stories at one time for the challenge.

Why?

Because the first story I started was moving too slow and it was draining me to write it. However, I haven’t stopped completely writing it. Now the new story is like a faucet that has been turned on. the words are flowing out of me like nothing. If I can keep up this pace I will hit 50,000 words really quick in that story and keep adding words to the other story bringing my total over the words needed to win the challenge.

Here’s a brief synopsis of both stories:

The Other White Shirt:
Two women, one man; the first woman is in love with the man, but he treats her less than a dog. He’s been pining after a blonde bombshell for quite some time, but when she decides to give him the time of day, he doesn’t expect the tables to be turned. Now he’s the one in love and she’s the tormentor and he’s the tormented.

Ribbons Pinned:
It’s that time of year again where the ribbon wearers come together to share their life experiences. This year proves to be more emotional than the past four years. Can everyone walk away knowing they are not alone with their pain and healing? Everyone can really be ribbon wearers if they think about it.

If you are participating in NaNo how are you doing?

Two New Pieces

Well today I made two new pieces of jewelry. These two pieces will leave my presence on Monday. I am sending them along with an earlier piece to a person who is so sweet. She has sent me things just because and I know she will appreciate my hand crafted work. I won’t mention her name because I want her to be surprised.

I will show the jewelry. It’s a bracelet and necklace set.

Three Word Tuesday #4- Use Your Voice

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

It’s been a while since I’ve had three simple words to say something poignant. What can I say, I talk a lot and have a lot to say. It’s just how I’ve been all my life. I remember being told by mother if I don’t have anything nice to say or can’t say anything nice, then I shouldn’t speak at all.

That’s exactly what I have to say today. Don’t walk around pouting and pointing fingers if you are not at the polls tomorrow casting your vote. Let your voice be heard on this great day in history. I can’t tell you who to vote for nor will I try to convince you that your choice is not the right choice.

However, I will say if you are not out there USING YOUR VOICE, when it counts the most, then keep your thoughts to yourself.

Be a part of history. Whether you vote for Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin you will be a part of history. Because it will either be the first African American man in charge of the United States or the first woman Vice President ever.

This is a sign of the times are changing. Let Your Voice be heard. You only have one vote, use it or lose the right to voice your opinion for the next four years. Remember the polls from eight years and four years ago, we went to sleep believing one thing and got up to a different thing.

USE YOUR VOICE! GET OUT AND VOTE!
