Jewelry Made By Me

I have dabbled here and there in making jewelry. But here lately since a Book Buddy friend has request a handmade design by me for Christmas, my designs has been popping in my head left and right.

The funny thing is I am in the process of writing a story where one of my characters designs jewelry. I love it.

Anyway, by request from my mother I am posting a blog showcasing my latest pieces.

Without further ado…I give you my mind in jewelry.

This is my first piece ever. I made a couple after this one that I gave away and foolishly I did not take pictures.

The one on the left is for my Book buddy pal who is ever so sweet, ‘Cilla. And the one on the right is just another piece I made on that same day.

The one on the left is for my mother. She gave me that stone about two years ago and asked me to make something with it, and like I said I wasn’t inspired until now. She even got a pair of earrings out of my creativity. Which is something new to me altogether. The one on the right is for my writing buddy, sister in another state with different parents, Darnetta. She is so not the girlie girl so I had to be creative.

I realize that you can’t see the pendant for the one on the right. It’s actually has two sides: one side has two dragons and the second side has Chinese writing. I am tempted to keep it for myself. I won’t though I can always make another.

These pieces are just something I thought was cute. My daughter loves it so much she is begging for them. I think the earring would be fine for her, but the necklace not so much. I don’t know I may keep that one for myself, especially since blue is my all time favorite color.

Alright that’s all the things I’ve made. Let me know what you think.

Thursday Thirteen #6- In Memory of 9-11

Photobucket

I wasn’t going to do a meme today, but I got to thinking about what when through my head seven years ago on this day.

13 things I remember from September 11, 2001.

1. I was at work bringing back a patient. We had a big screen television in the waiting room. I heard someone say Oh my goodiness, he lost control of the plane and it ran into the building.”

2. I heard “God no it’s not an accident, someone has hit the other building as well.”

3. Panic! I couldn’t remember how close to the towers my mother worked.

4. Where was my mother? I tried calling her over and over again.

5. All circuits are busy. Please try your call again later.

6. I couldn’t work any more. The patients were of no importance to me at that moment. I wanted to find my mother.

7. I had just moved to Georgia a month and a half before the attack. So people were saying I guess you made it out of there just in time. What an insensitive thing to say to someone who has family they couldn’t find.

8. Tears rolling down my face, every time it dawned on me that I still hadn’t heard from my mother.

9. My sister who lived in NY with her couldn’t find her either. More tears more panic.

10. Praying like never before. She was the only parent I really had. She had to be ok.

11. Finally I received a call from my sister she had gotten through to our mother and she was fine. She was walking from Manhattan to Queens trying to get home. No trains, no buses and the streets of Manhattan was filled with debris and people.

12. Driving home listening to the different radio stations talk about the unnecessary death of so many including children.

13. Realizing I had been in those towers several times before. In 1998 I was there during the month of September. Realizing how blessed I was.

To all the families affected by the this horrible day in history, I know my condolences will not bring back your love ones, but I am sorry. I am sorry that people who don’t realize that a life is a gift from God and should not be taken for granted. I’m sorry that you had to lose a loved one because of something I still don’t understand to this day. I can’t imagine having my body consumed with so much hatred, that I would take another person’s life.

Remember this day. We have lost many innocent people for no reason at all.
